From Level 3 to Level 4, 5 and 6: how apprentice progression works

The apprenticeship ladder now runs from Level 2 to Level 7 (Masters). Here's how progression actually looks in Somerset in 2026.
Level 3 → 4
Typically 12 months on the job, then step up into a specialist role.
Level 4/5 → 6 (degree)
Usually via University Centre Somerset (UCS) or a partner university with your employer.
Level 7 (Masters)
Growing fast in leadership and technical fields.
