Year 11 is the perfect time to walk into an apprenticeship evening. Nothing's decided, everything's open, and one conversation can change the next five years. Here's exactly how to work the room at Queen's College, Taunton on 9th March 2027.
Before you go
- Look up three employers attending and one thing each of them makes or does.
- Write your GCSE subjects and predicted grades on your phone notes.
- Practise one sentence: "Hi, I'm in Year 11 at ___, and I'm interested in ___."

- What do you look for on an application?
- What's the starting salary, honestly?
- Where do your apprentices end up after three years?

- No. Year 10 and 11 are the best years to attend, because you have time to shape your options before applications open.
- Do I need a CV?
- Not required, but a one-page CV makes you memorable. Bring five copies.
